Travis joined Carson LLP as a Partner after developing a broad legal practice working directly with executives, managers, and other professionals to provide wide-ranging litigation services, transactional advice, and general counsel across industries including health care, municipal government, financial services, insurance, and telecommunications. Drawing on his experience as a high school teacher in Washington, D.C., Travis offers clients clear, straightforward explanations of complex legal issues and empowers them to become confident, knowledgeable, and active partners in the legal process.
Litigation and appellate work have always been Travis’s primary focus, and he applies his skill and experience in those areas to represent Carson LLP’s insurance defense clients at every stage of litigation. Travis has first-chair jury trial experience in both state and federal courts and has authored or co-authored numerous appellate briefs for the Indiana Court of Appeals, Indiana Supreme Court, and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Travis’s practice at Carson LLP encompasses all aspects of general insurance defense and coverage matters. In addition to regularly representing drivers and property owners in automobile negligence and premises liability cases, he has extensive experience defending cities, towns, law enforcement officers, and other governmental entities and employees against claims alleging constitutional or civil rights violations. He also handles medical malpractice claims, complex commercial disputes, and labor and employment matters, including serving as lead defense counsel in class actions, shareholder derivative suits, and multi-district litigation. Outside the traditional courtroom setting, Travis has represented management in labor arbitrations and in administrative investigations and proceedings before the EEOC, Department of Labor, OSHA, and Indiana Department of Revenue.
Outside the office, Travis enjoys live music from local bands trying to make it big to international superstars to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra performances. He also loves his Cubs, Colts, Pacers, and, of course, the Miami Hurricanes. Having played football, basketball, and volleyball in high school and ran competitively, Travis is always up for friendly competition — though things tend to get a bit more serious at trivia night.
